After the events of Infinite Crisis, most DC stories jumped ahead one year and readers were left to piece together what they missed. 52 is the exception. Here, immediately after the Crisis events, we learn what has happened to the world during the “One Year Later” phase of DC history. With one issue per week (an ambitious goal in itself) events unfold and seldom-seen heroes step forward to take up the jobs left undone. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman may be gone, but the world still needed heroes. Some lived, some died, but the universe as we now know it goes on… at least until the next crisis.
52 includes, among other things, backstories on the history of the DC universe along with brief updates on the current origins of many characters that hopefully filled in some of the gaps that always occur when a comic book universe is remade. Rumor has it that this refiguring of the DC universe is one of the tightest conceived yet.
