Nick Fury thinks that the death of Hawkeye and the disbanding of The Avengers may have something to do with Cap being a little too aggressive lately. So Fury sends Cap’s former girlfriend, Sharon Carter, on a surveillance mission. Sharon isn’t the only one keeping an eye on Cap, though, since The Red Skull has made his way to New York. Cap and The Red Skull have never looked as good as they do under the pencil of Steve Epting. The art is the highlight of this issue and should be for the issues to come. Epting was an underrated artist during his first stint at Marvel and, now that he has returned, he’s finally getting the props he deserves. Ed Brubaker’s roller–coaster set–up story will make for an interesting ride. While this issue is a bit slow getting the story started, readers can tell that he has big things planned. The twist on the last page makes it clear that this won’t be just another Captain America tale.
