Doctor Strange (1st Series) Volume 1: God of Magic

Dr. Stephen Strange was first seen in Strange Tales #110. An arrogant surgeon who cared only for money, he was laid low by an auto accident which robbed him of the use of his hands. Although he searched for years for a cure, his efforts came to naught. In desperation, he journeyed to India in search of “the Ancient One,” a sorcerer whose powers might be able to help him.

Although he started as a skeptic, Doctor Strange studied under the Ancient One for years, learning his magicks, and eventually becoming himself a Master of the Mystic Arts. The rest, as they say, is history.
