Fans of Hal Jordan have long been waiting for his return as Green Lantern. Since he was the longest–running and best–known Green Lantern, fans were up in arms when he became the evil Parallax, a change that many saw as going against the personality they had come to know. This series is set to somehow reintroduce Hal as Green Lantern, but, first, readers have to prepare for the return of Parallax. Geoff Johns has done a terrific job of hiding the identity of this version of Parallax and, through the first two issues of the series, he’s building great tension surrounding how Hal will get out of his Spectre identity and regain the ring. This is a mystery worth following. Couple the impressive story with the more than capable art of Ethan Van Sciver, and this series is a winner. Van Sciver has been around comics for years, but it is now that he’s finally drawing his breakout work. Look for this to lead him to other big–name projects.
