Frank Castle was enjoying a picnic with his wife and children when they got caught in the crossfire of a mob war. Frank was the only one to survive. To ease his pain, Frank’s now dealing out retribution the only way he knows how—at the end of a gun. In this incarnation of The Punisher, Frank’s gotten older, but the war goes on.
In the beginning, there was the Executioner, Don Pendleton’s Mack Bolan who waged a one man war against the Mafia in a series of paperback novels. Then a similar figure, The Punisher, popped up in Amazing Spider-Man #129 who waged a similar war against crime and criminals. Several series and two movies later, Frank Castle is still plugging away at the bad guys, but now in a full color with explicit content in both language and graphic violence.
