It was just after the second World War when it all began—1949, to be exact, in a town with the unlikely name of Bucksnort, Texas. There had been a disturbance in the town, and a radio-dispatched police car was sent to investigate. That also disappeared. So they sent in the army.
The troops entered the town and found a charnel house. Blood was everywhere, and the skulls of the town’s residents were neatly stacked atop a strange altar. The town had only one survivor—a woman pregnant by an unspeakable father.
The woman gave birth to a healthy son, then lapsed into a catatonic state. The boy was raised by the Captain who led the troops into Bucksnort, and grew to a man. Years passed uneventfully until the boy saw combat in Laos. Then, under fire, his true nature revealed itself…
