Venom: Lethal Protector

In Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, a being known as The Beyonder gave Spider-Man a prize of sorts, in what appeared to be an extraordinary black costume. Eventually, this costume was revealed as an alien symbiote, who sought to permanently bond with Spider-Man. When Spider-Man rejected it, the symbiote turned mean and sought out another, which it found with Eddie Brock. Together, as the combined creature known as Venom, they became Spider-Man’s deadliest enemy.

Eddie eventually settled his grudge with Spider-Man, agreeing to leave him alone if Spider-Man would do the same. Unfortunately, extraordinary circumstances leave Spider-Man unable to honor that pact—for someone has found a way to spawn off new symbiotes and is using them for evil ends. Only by joining forces can Venom and Spider-Man have a prayer of stopping them.
